The Problem of Human Suffering

If you have come to our website, you may be experiencing some form of human suffering. Whether it is feeling extreme anxiety due to a fear of others' judgments, depression due to constant self critical thoughts, or difficulty with relationships inside and outside the family, these problems can make life hard to live. The video below documents some real people's struggles with such issues. The creator graciously allowed us to show it here.

Modern Psychology and Mindfulness

Fortunately, modern psychological science has studied many of these forms of suffering and developed effective treatments for many conditions. Some of the most potent forms of treatment use something called mindfulness within the treatment approach.

What is Mindfulness?

In essence, mindfulness is with you right now. It is the part of you that sees the words on the screen, hears the words you read in your mind, and notices your breathing and movements of your breath in your body. It is an ever-present aspect of your experience that can be further enhanced through mindfulness exercises and practices.

At The Mindful Center for Individual, Couple, and Family Therapy, we incorporate mindfulness as a central feature of the treatment we provide, quite simply because it works and has been shown to work in many scientific studies. However, we also understand that many forms of suffering can be quite complex and at times, hard to treat. Therefore we also emphasize a non-judgmental, compassionate, empathic relationship as a foundation of change with other scientifically supported methods to provide you with the most effective forms of treatment today.

On this website, you will find various resources to help relieve your particular form of suffering and cultivate increased well-being. If you find the resources here not to be sufficient or you would prefer to work with someone immediately on your difficulties, feel free to contact us in order to set up a free phone consultation with one of our clinicians.
